Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 5, 2026

Scholar is a school management platform (web and mobile) operated by Mark Logic Development. It is used by participating schools to manage student records, enrollment, attendance, grading and report cards, billing, and school–parent communications. This policy explains what information the Scholar apps handle and how it is protected.

Information we collect

Accounts on Scholar are created by each school's administration — users cannot self-register. Depending on your role (administrator, teacher, or parent), the platform stores:

The apps do not collect device location, contacts, photos, browsing history, or advertising identifiers, and contain no ads or third-party analytics.

How information is used

Data is used solely to provide the school management service to your school: operating your account, displaying school records to authorized users, generating report cards and invoices, and delivering school communications. We do not sell personal information or share it with third parties for marketing. Data may be disclosed only where required by law.

Security and retention

All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Each school's data is isolated in its own tenant, access is role-based, and records are retained for as long as the school remains a customer, plus any period required by law. Routine encrypted backups are kept for disaster recovery.

Children's privacy

Scholar accounts are issued to adults (school staff and parents/guardians). Student records are entered and controlled by the school as part of its educational function; Scholar processes them on the school's behalf.

Your choices and data deletion

You can request correction or deletion of your data — see Data deletion requests for the steps and what is deleted or kept.
